BSA Board and Roles

With an organization of such substantial size with such varying interests, we require a significant number of volunteers to keep the programs running and provide value to our players, coaches, referees and parents.  If you still have questions, please e-mail us.

 

PRESIDENT: Tim Kassel

The President is the executive officer of the corporation. Their responsibility is to carry out the directives of the Board of Directors. In so doing, the President shall have the authority to execute contracts and other agreements on behalf of the corporation. The President, or a Board member designated by them, shall preside at meetings of the Board of Directors.  The primary responsibilities of the President are to: Provide oversight, communication and leadership for BSA players, families, teams, coaches, trainers, partners and Board; Maintain club documentation; Coordinate logistics of home games for times and fields; Coordinate practice times and field assignments for our teams; and Schedule Club Meetings.

1st VICE PRESIDENT: Kevin Nash

The 1st Vice Presidents is to ensure that all committees carry out their stated responsibilities, and to serve the President in all matters as requested. The 1st Vice-President may act independently of the President in other matters only when given special powers or assignments by the Board of Directors. At the request of the President, or in the event of their absence or disability, the 1st Vice President shall assume all responsibilities and powers of the President.  The primary responsibilities of the 1st Vice President are to oversee the Tournament Committee and provide recommendations to the Board on sponsorships of tournaments for the Association by: Acting as Tournament Director - chairs for various jobs (awards, vendor alley, food, ad book, recruiting & communications, volunteer schedule, field marshals, registration, set-up & clean-up, and field prep); Contacting and coordinating tournament vendors; and Sourcing trophies, patches and t-shirts for Tournament.

2nd VICE PRESIDENT: Marc Halpin

The primary responsibilities of the 2nd Vice President are to oversee and implement decisions relating to team equipment and uniforms by: Coordinating team uniform and spirit wear orders; Promote and manage sales of Spirit Wear; Maintain inventory and supply teams with equipment; Act as liaison to the Township Rec Department and Somerset County Parks Commission.

SECRETARY: Maureen Rodia 

The Secretary shall have charge of all formal documents and records relating to the affairs of the corporation. The Secretary may sign, together with the President or other individuals empowered by the Board of Directors, in the name of and on behalf of the Corporation, any contracts or agreements approved by the Board of Directors. When so authorized, the Secretary may affix the seal of the Corporation.  The primary responsibilities of the Secretary are to: Attend and keep the minutes of all meetings of the Association; If unable to attend any meeting, the Secretary shall appoint an assistant to fulfill their responsibilities; Assist with Tournament / Tryouts as needed; and Score Reporting
 
TREASURER: Teresa Sukhin

The Treasurer shall have custody of all funds, property, and securities of the Corporation, subject to any regulations imposed by the Board of Directors. The Treasurer may endorse on behalf of the Corporation checks, notes and other obligations for credit to the Corporation's account in a bank or banks, or other depository, as designated by the Board of Directors. They shall sign all receipts and vouchers and, together with any other officers designated by the Board of Directors, all checks and all bills of exchange and promissory notes issued by the Corporation, except in those cases where such power has been explicitly granted by the Board of Directors to another officer or agent of the Corporation.  The Treasurer shall have custody of all funds, property, and securities of the Corporation, subject to any requirements defined by the Board of Directors. They shall keep books for the purpose of keeping complete and accurate records of all receipts, disbursements, assets and liabilities of the Corporation, and shall exhibit such books at all reasonable times to any Director on request. The Treasurer shall render to the Board upon request an account of all transactions and provide a report on the financial status of the Corporation.  The primary responsibilities of the Treasurer are to: Tracks all of the expenses of Annual Tournament; Reconcile the clubs checking, savings and credit card accounts; Pay all of the club’s bills; File the clubs annual tax return; Track seasonal payments of club fees from teams; and, Interact with team treasurers.

ADMINISTRATIVE ADVISOR: John Kaveney

The Administrative Advisor shall serve as advisor to the President and Board of Directors on matters relating to the administration of the Corporation. They shall also act as the official guardian of the Association By-Laws. The primary responsibilities of the Administrative Advisor are to: Process all requests for changes and/or amendments to the By-Laws, Handle Club Insurance and Liability; Act as Health and Safety Officer; Interpret Club By-Laws and run Annual General Meeting; and, Develop and/or approve new Association policies and procedures as applicable.

CLUB TECHNICAL DIRECTOR: Dan Adams

The Club Technical Director leads and oversees the implementation of a Board approved training program for trainers/coaches and all players. The primary responsibilities of the Club Technical Director are to: Manage the tryout process including the recruitment of players for tryouts; Trainer Appointments and Communications; Formation of Teams/Player approvals; and, Assist/Direct the U9-Below & U10-Above Technical Coordinators.

TECHNICAL COORDINATOR of U9-BELOW: (Open Position)

The Technical Coordinator for the U9-Below teams is responsible for organizing and administering the Board approved training program for teams under their oversight.

TECHNICAL COORDINATOR of U10-ABOVE: Nestor Cabrera

 The Technical Coordinator of the U10-Above teams will be responsible for organizing and administering the Board approved training program for teams under their oversight.

TEAM REPRESENTATIVE: (Open Position)

The primary responsibilities of the Team Representative are to: Represent the interests of the Association teams, managers and trainers/coaches at the meetings of the Board of Directors; Reply to team, manager and trainer/coach inquiries; Hold and direct periodic meetings of said managers, trainers/coaches, at a minimum, one Fall and one Spring meeting; and, Assist with Tournament.

CLUB REGISTRAR: Michelle Mangiaracina

 The Registrar shall maintain an up-to- date list of the members of the Association. The primary responsibilities of the Club Registrar are the: Registration and carding of all players; Reconciliation of player and coach fees with state; and, Registration of applicable teams with EDP and MNJYSA.

WEBSITE COORDINATOR: Joe Inzitari

The primary responsibilities of the Website Director are to: Oversee and manage the BSA website; Manage and update content; and Acts as Chairperson for Publicity Committee activities.

COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR: (Open Position)

The primary responsibilities of the Communications Director are to: Manage Team Snap Account at club level; Coordinate all member communications; Plan club and community events; Create standardization for providing team information; and Acts as Chairperson for Social Event Committee activities.
