BSA News - Sports Complex Opportunity
by posted 10/20/2009

This is to give you some good news and get your support on an exciting project that is underway in Bridgewater

For several months now BSA has been involved in discussions with the local sports associations about the possibility of building a multi-field, flood-lit turf facility behind the High School. At the end of this article is a link to a document that shows the outline plan and gives some of the background to the project

BSA is very much in favor of this development and is helping to finance (from its Capital Improvement Fund) the early investigations, permits and drafts of engineering plans

To have several well-lit, all-weather fields in a central location would clearly benefit our club and other similar local sports clubs.

As a township we approved a referendum last year to use up to 25% of the Open Space money raised through local taxes for enhancing recreation facilities. This project is a great opportunity to put that money to good use for the benefit of our youth.

Please show your support for this project by clicking on this link to the Township’s website http://www.bridgewaternj.gov/openspace.asp

You can review all the proposals that the town is considering by clicking on the PDF symbol but the most important action you can do is to complete the form that you first see there.

BSA fully supports the High School Turf Fields project.

If, like us, you support the project, here are some reasons you may consider including in your response:

  • There is a great need at present for more multipurpose turf facilities
  • This project will bring the most opportunity for recreational activities to greatest number of township residents in a central location.
  • Fields can be lit without disturbing local residents
  • Multiple sports activities are possible at the site
  • The BRHS girls soccer program can move back home from the Middle Scholl saving transportation costs
  • More tournaments and events can be held at this type of facility

Make sure you mention the “High School Turf Fields Project” in your response

More information on the Sports Complex can be found here.
